A Halloween in Prague

Writer: Hope SmithHope Smith

At first, I was going to end up at Dracula's castle for a conference on Halloweekend. Basically, my American cards said, "no." They wouldn't let me purchase the Dracula weekend, but it allowed me to purchase tickets to Prague, so Prague is where we ended up to celebrate.

Clearly as you can see the building and architecture speak towards Gothic themes.

It was one of the most popular places in Europe to spend "Halloween" as that's not really a holiday over here compared to corporate America. Candy for Halloween! Turkey for Thanksgiving! Presents from Santa! Y'know

I like photos where it looks like you're looking out into the great beyond.

Of course, beautiful statues everywhere. It seems like in America, we have more vandalized or torn down statues than we do actual statues.

I wanted to include a photo with some nature vibes! I love nature.

There was a Beatles themed restaurant. I wanted to try it, but didn't make way there.

There is also this wall of freedom & peace inspired by John Lennon. It was amazing to see!

Now, let's look at some foods I tried.

We went to a highly recommended place called "Monarch" for a nice dinner. It was honestly the same cost at Ruth's Chris steak house which we didn't plan, but here's what I tried.

We ordered and split this steak plate. The steak was delicious! You can see the glisten of the oil lathered on the meat, superb.

It was served with variations of bread. The bread in Europe is out of this world!

I tried Beef Tartar for the first time, not a fan. It is definitely an acquired taste. Then, I tried this shrimp, but I skipped the underneath of onion mix and will had that. I don't eat onion at all! I am basically allergic, but I digress.

I tried this salad here... It was disappointing. Salads that taste healthy usually are. :)

Will ordered some fries! Basic, but good. How can you go wrong with potatoes?

Finally, I tried this pudding which was similar to a gingerbread mix with cinnamon and vanilla. Delicious!

The food was great, but I'd rather eat at Ruth's Chris for that price, honestly.

I did try some traditional foods like goulash, but also this one here is a Beef Sirloin with Cream Sauce. It was okay, but the goulash was better (IN MY OPINION)! I clearly removed the onions to taste, then I passed the plate over to Will.

We also tried this really cool place called "Fat Cat." Now this is a place I'd highly recommend you visit if you ever make way to Prague. They have a diverse menu with different foods for everyone. I loved the environment and I want to go back!

I ordered this pizza thinking the eggs would be runny, but actually, they were fried eggs. I was a little disappointed by that part, but the food was delicious.

This was a Caesar salad with breaded Parmesan on top. I am a huge Caesar salad fan! Basic American girl, but whatever.

Will ordered some fried chicken strips with sauce. They were similar to Zaxby's strips tossed in sauce if you've ever ordered that. If you haven't, you should. Anyway, I didn't try the strips, but I did taste the fries Will had and they were good. This little white sauce is their version of "Ranch" and it was okay, but still not ranch dressing like in America. They try, they try.

Overall, Prague was an okay trip. We didn't plan the best and our AirBnB was subpar, but there was so much to see and I want to go back to see more someday. It wasn't my favorite place in the world, but it did remind me a lot of NYC. Busy, tourists, and trendy.

Would you ever visit Prague or Czech in general?
